A young French brand with a name derived from Delage, Panhard, and Facel Vega has focused on developing its chronograph collections. The brand, known for its racing-inspired watches, introduces the Depancel Serie-R Tangerine Chronograph Automatic, the first chronograph in its square-shaped collection.
The watch features a bold case design inspired by the front grilles of vintage cars. The case measures 36mm in width, 40mm in height (excluding lugs), and has a relatively restrained thickness of 13.3mm. The case is characterized by a curved line on the top, reminiscent of radiator grilles. It also boasts rectangular pushers and a crown with an anodized orange insert, adding to its design uniqueness and attention to detail.
The new chronograph model follows the successful design of the Allure Tangerine released in 2023, featuring a blue and orange dial combination. The dial sports a grille-like engraved pattern on the periphery and a sunray-brushed lower part. A bright orange stripe traverses the dial, complementing the orange theme seen on the chronograph hands and the circular frame of the off-centered 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock. The watch's overall look is original, fresh, and inspired by racing aesthetics.
Powering the Depancel Serie-R Tangerine Chronograph Automatic is the Peacock SL-4801 movement, a modern automatic chronograph with a column wheel, a vertical clutch, and a transversal balance bridge. With dimensions of 30.5mm x 6.5mm, the movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz and offers a power reserve of 60 hours. While it draws inspiration from the Rolex 4130 movement, it features its own unique decorative and technical solutions.
The Depancel Serie-R Tangerine Chronograph Automatic will be released as a limited edition of 300 pieces. Available for order on June 11th, 2024, on the brand's website, deliveries are expected in December 2024. The watch is priced at a yet-to-be-disclosed amount.
