Albishorn, a brand known for its "imaginary vintage" timepieces, has launched its inaugural model, the Maxigraph. This hypothetical 1930s wrist chronograph combines the allure of the past with modern possibilities.
The inspiration behind the Maxigraph was the question of how a modern watch would have looked like in the 1930s. The brand's founder, Sebastien Chaulmontet, sought to capture the essence of a timepiece that could have existed during that era.
The Maxigraph is a regatta wrist chronograph, a type of watch that originated from pocket watches and later evolved into wristwatches with water and shock resistance. However, the technical advancements necessary for this evolution were not applied to these timers until later.
The Maxigraph features a proprietary automatic movement with a 10-minute regatta countdown positioned at 7 o'clock. Unlike traditional chronographs that restart endlessly once the countdown is over, the Maxigraph stops when the 10 minutes have elapsed. The watch also boasts a 64-hour power reserve.
The round case of the Maxigraph measures 39mm and is made of stainless steel. The crown is positioned at 10 o'clock for optimal functionality, and the red aluminum chronograph pusher is at 9 o'clock. The watch offers water resistance up to 100 meters.
The silver-tone sector dial pays homage to the 1930s with its vintage-inspired colors and excellent legibility. Superluminova highlights enhance readability in low-light conditions. The watch is presented on a red rubber strap and comes with a spare white calfskin strap.
The Maxigraph will be produced in small quantities of about 25 watches per batch, with first deliveries scheduled for September 12, 2024. It is available exclusively through Massena LAB.
