An ultra-modern version of the Carrera Chronograph with an openworked dial is set to make its debut at the upcoming 101st edition of the famous 24h of Le Mans race. This weekend, on Saturday the 15th, TAG Heuer will be present at the race as the sponsor of Porsche. As part of their ongoing partnership, TAG Heuer has released a new version of its iconic racing chronograph as a tribute to the endurance race.
The Carrera name holds great significance for TAG Heuer in the world of motorsport. Named after the legendary Carrera Panamericana race, the Carrera collection has a long association with Porsche and its racing cars. The new Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 is a modern and bold watch that reflects the cutting-edge technology and endurance of the race. It features a large modular case with an angular design and an openworked dial.
The Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 has a 44mm stainless steel case with recessed sides and a black PVD-coated grained surface. The left side of the case features a Porsche signature in silver, while the right side has a black coated crown and pushers. The fixed bezel is made of forged carbon with a tachymeter scale and the Porsche logo in luminescent printing. The watch also features classic Carrera lugs with a strap connection inspired by NACA air inlets found on race cars.
The dial of the Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 is openworked, with a complex architecture and a polarizing design. It features circular shapes and a radial-style spiderweb pattern, reminiscent of Porsche's racing car chassis. The dial has a classic tri-compax display with closed sub-dials for improved legibility.
