Movado has recently launched a new limited-edition collection in collaboration with American artist Derrick Adams. The collection includes five wristwatches and two wall clocks, all featuring Adams' artwork. It is a departure from Movado's usual style, but it integrates well with one of the brand's most iconic wristwatch models.
The watches in the collection are based on Movado's 40mm-wide steel, quartz movement-based Museum Dial watches. Each watch is coated in a different color and features an interpretation of Derrick Adams' existing compositions on the dial. The straps are also designed as part of the overall artwork. While it is interesting to see popular art on watch dials, some may argue that it would be more intellectually stimulating for artists to create new works specifically designed for wristwatch dials.
