Russians' Increasing Demand for Smart Watches

Russian consumers are showing a growing interest in smart wearable devices, with sales increasing by 11% in the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2023.

In Russia, there has been a consistent increase in demand for smart wearable devices. Previously, MTS reported a 50% increase in sales of smart watches and fitness trackers from January to June of last year compared to the same period in 2022.

In the first half of this year, Russians purchased 3.7 million wearable devices, amounting to 24.5 billion rubles. This represents a 22% growth in the market in terms of revenue, according to M.Video-Eldorado group.

Popular brands among buyers include Huawei, Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, and Redmi.

The ability to monitor health conditions such as sleep tracking, pulse measurement, and even electrocardiography in advanced models has become one of the main factors driving the choice of these devices. Sports enthusiasts also rely on wearable devices to accurately measure activity levels, such as pace and calorie consumption, and track changes in health indicators during exercise.

In Russia, a service allowing biometric marriage registrations will soon be introduced. Global shipments of AI-powered smartphones are expected to reach 912 million units by 2028. The Russian Federal Communications Agency (Roskomnadzor) has reminded messenger platforms to verify subscriber data with their respective telecom operators.
