A 39-year-old woman from Izberbash, Dagestan, has been accused of scamming a seller out of a gold watch worth 150,000 rubles (approximately $2,000). The incident began when the woman responded to an online advertisement for the luxury timepiece. The seller, a 27-year-old resident of the Karabudakhkentsky district, agreed to send the watch after the buyer promised to pay within a few days.
However, instead of fulfilling her promise, the buyer resold the watch to another individual for 250,000 rubles and used the money to pay off personal debts. When the rightful owner realized she had been deceived, she reported the incident to the police, who are now investigating the case.
This incident highlights the risks associated with online transactions, particularly in regions where trust-based agreements are common. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and use secure payment methods when conducting business online.
Meanwhile, other news from the region includes updates on infrastructure projects, such as the opening of four gasification facilities in Dagestan and plans to modernize the trade port in Makhachkala. These developments aim to improve living standards and boost economic activity in the area.
