Aera, a microbrand known for its design-led approach, has released its first mechanical chronographs, the C-1 Shadow and C-1 Cloud. These watches continue the brand's focus on simplicity and softness in design, featuring a large yet soft pebble-like case, curved lugs, integrated straps, and one-piece "dished" dials.
The C-1 Shadow chronograph comes with a matte black PVD coated case, while the C-1 Cloud model sports a standard 904L stainless steel case. Both models are powered by the Sellita SW510 Bi-compax automatic caliber and offer 56 hours of power reserve. The dials of the watches are distinct, with the Shadow featuring a matte black finish and white markings, and the Cloud featuring a pale matte grey-blue dial with contrasting white subdials.
Both watches come with two integrated straps - black rubber and orange leather with quick-release spring bars for the Shadow, and white rubber and light grey calfskin for the Cloud. The cases have solid engraved screw-in case backs and come with a handmade leather pouch. The C-1 Shadow is priced at £2100, and the C-1 Cloud is priced at £1950. Both models will be produced as limited runs of 300 pieces.
Although the C-1 Shadow and C-1 Cloud are Aera's first mechanical chronographs, they stay true to the brand's design philosophy with their unique aesthetic and attention to detail. The watches have received positive feedback for their design execution and are expected to attract customers looking for something different.
Aera's previous watches, the P-1 Pilot and D-1 Diver, were well-received despite their larger size. The brand has established itself as a microbrand focused on delivering high-quality timepieces with distinctive designs. With the introduction of the C-1 Shadow and C-1 Cloud, Aera aims to further solidify its position in the market.
While the pricing of the chronographs is higher compared to Aera's previous models, the brand offers added value with the use of premium materials, including 904L stainless steel and Globolight for the logo, as well as the inclusion of two straps and a handmade pouch.
Overall, the launch of the C-1 Shadow and C-1 Cloud marks an important milestone for Aera, as the brand expands its collection and continues to attract customers with its unique design language and dedication to quality.
